Illustration for article titled sixTAY days of writing: 14 posts later, has it helped you?

When I first saw this challenge posted, I knew it was going to be a breeze. ‘Of course, I can come up with a golden article every single day!’ Just 14 posts in and I can see how difficult it really is.

That’s not to say it’s been bad, though. I’ve really enjoyed the challenge. Posting something that I’m okay with other people reading, EVERY day is forcing me to think differently. Not just about what people would want to read, but what people would also want to discuss in the ‘TAY’ format.

Even if it hasn’t drastically changed the quality of my writing (it has made it better in my opinion), having a deadline that I’ve had to meet every single day has created good habits for my writing. Sitting down at roughly the same time, each evening, has created a consistency that my writing has never known. On top of that, knowing that I’m going to create something- even if it is a stupid article about video game reviews in Playboy magazine- is fulfilling in a way that my day job isn’t.
